JOYCE KING
A Brooklyn, NY-based choreographer, educator and Artistic Director of JKing Dance Company, (JKDC)
Joyce has enjoyed a multifaceted career as performer, educator, choreographer and director. In addition to her choreographic work for JKDC, she has received commissions to present for special performances at Florence Gould Hall, Symphony Space, DNA, Merce Cunningham Theater - Joffrey Ballet; Derry Theater, Palace Theater - Gala/BDC NH Ensemble, Dansstage Festival, Auditorio Nacional and Teatro Eugene O’Neil Theaters-Costa Rica.
Commercially her work has also been presented as part of NYC Fashion Week-Louis Vuitton’s ‘Life Is A Journey’ and Style Pointe Fashion & Dance. Joyce solely interviewed live on the televised programs ‘Good Morning Armenia’, and ‘Yerevan Today’, speaking on her creative process and work presented at HIGH FEST International Performing Arts. Joyce is also an awardee of the Emerging Artist stipend as part of JCAL Making Moves Dance Festival-Main Stage; The Field Artist residency, and NYC DIXON Place-Top Choreography/Audience Pick.

She has performed at the prestigious Theater an der Wien-Cats, toured with A Chorus Line and Fame: The Musical, Industrials-Lynne Taylor Corbett, NFL; Michael Jackson Sportswear, Benefits for Broadway Cares; Fame - Dream sequence, Boston Opera’s Aida and Die Fledermaus - Sam Kurkjian, Graciela Daniele choreographers, and lead roles in original plays directed by Doug Hall.
Joyce has worked with and performed repertory by Adrienne Hawkins, Danny Sloan, Fred Benjamin, Richard Levi, Lynn Simonson, Miquel Lopez, Bruce Taylor, and Ron Forella.
Her profound influencers in dance and theatricality come through the direction of Suzanne Taylor-Michaud, Charles Kakatsakis, Adrienne Hawkins, Lynn Simonson, Michael Owens, Sally Johnson, Richard Levi, Michele Assaf, and at the Oxford Summer Shakespeare Intensive - London England; and voice/singing with Frank Kubik.
As an NYC Educator, Joyce has taught on faculty for STEPS, Joffrey Ballet Trainee Program, Joffrey Jazz Trainee and Contemporary Summer Intensives, Peridance, guest faculty for Broadway Dance Center, PMT Performance Workshops, and working with The Independence Adult Community Center. She continues to teach master classes, summer intensives, and workshops in contemporary jazz, improvisation, and repertory. She additionally holds certification in Active Isolated Stretching. Joyce has served on the panel as an adjudicator for Jazz Choreography Enterprises, INC., and the NH Youth Dance Festival.
Internationally, she has taught for Broadway Dance-Tokyo Japan, Paris Centre, Belgium/Brugge Dance Festival, Spirit Dance and DanceWorks of Costa Rica, and HIGH FEST International Performing Arts - Armenia.
Joyce is happily married to Ray and the proud mom of our daughter Sydney a creative writer/musician. We happily share our home with two crazy cats, Zoey & Coltrane.
