JKing Dance Company, (JKDC), an all female ensemble, based in Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY, is increasingly advancing in recognition as ‘...undeniably emotional, unabashedly raw, and most importantly real,’ (Jenny Thompson/Examiner).


JKDC’s vision is in sharing work that engages audience’s minds and emotions through dance and storytelling; bringing life to topics left unresolved, personal and social, to invite new perspectives, with the hopes of opening up dialogue where there was none. We value imagination and individuality.

JKDC’s teaching artists have a diverse wealth of teaching experience, ranging from professional trainee classes at the Joffrey Ballet School and open professional/nonprofessional classes at Steps on Broadway in NYC, internationally and nationally workshops and master classes, privately owned studios, public school residencies, private special education care, and on the panel of adjudicators for choreographic showcases, auditions and competitions. The varied nature of our backgrounds provides a wholly comprehensive experience for artists, and effectively blends the boundaries of learning.


JKDC’s pedagogy incorporates the technique of dance with storytelling to promote and strengthen technique, vocabulary, self expression, character study and body awareness. Our vision is in educating and assisting dancers and movers of all levels, through performance opportunities, workshops, and after school residency programs.

Upcoming performances. In addition, Artistic Director, King is the recipient of The BUILD grant, The Field Artist residency and awarded Top Audience Pick for choreography at DixonPlace/NYC10. She has self produced four JKDC seasons at The Ailey Citigroup Theater - The Joan Weill Center for Dance in 2012 - 2015, receiving press acknowledgement. It is through these performances, King offers young emerging dancers the opportunity of rehearsing along side the company to open JKDC’s evening programs.

JKDC has presented at over 25 NY venues - performance highlights include: APAP - Jazz at Lincoln Center 2015, 2017-Booking Dance, APAP 2017 Construction Company Dance Portfolio, mmac, Gibney, Salvatore Theater, Brooklyn Dance Festival, DIXON Place, NYC Children’s Museum of Art , Tribute to ‘Luigi’, WHITE WAVE’S DUMBO and COOL NY, Grounds for Sculpture and more; with additional touring in Illinois, Massachusetts, NJ and VT. JKDC made their international debut at HIGH FEST International Performing Arts Festival -Yerevan, Armenia.  On multiple occasions, the company has had the joy of performing under the umbrella of Jazz Choreography Enterprises, Inc. JKDC was awarded Fiscal Sponsorship in 2010 with The Field.
